Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. You'll engage customers in-store, online, or by phone, sell classes, and ensure safe, clean training spaces. This role suits animal lovers with retail experience ready to excel in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pet training services following PetSmart's curriculum and manage pet parent interactions/outcomes.
- Actively sell and schedule training classes while educating on program benefits.
- Maintain all training paperwork, cleanliness, and safety protocols; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Serve as training expert for store associates, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
- Participate in company culture, recognition, and policy adherence.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication/organizational skills. Must handle pressure, lift 50+ lbs, stand extensively, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Exposure to pets, noise, and wet environments is common; reasonable accommodations available.
