Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. This role combines hands-on pet interaction, customer education, sales, and store support to ensure safe, fun experiences for all.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead training sessions over phone, in-person, or online while prioritizing pet parent satisfaction and outcomes.
• Actively promote and sell training classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate paperwork, schedules, and a clean, safe training environment.
• Handle sick/injured pets promptly, including vet transport if needed.
• Collaborate across departments, recognize team contributions, and follow all policies.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs, standing for shifts, and working in pet-filled environments with evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
