Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer engages pet parents and pets to deliver positive training experiences aligned with our vision and curriculum. You'll sell classes, ensure safety, and contribute to a culture of belonging in a dynamic retail environment with live animals and moderate noise.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), climb ladders, stoop, kneel. Exposed to pet hair, wet areas, mechanical parts, and high noise occasionally. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online, addressing concerns and driving outcomes.
- Sell training classes and educate on curriculum benefits across channels.
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
- Act as training expert for store associates and recognize sales contributions.
- Respond to sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, assist other departments, and follow policies.
Experience & Skills
Seek candidates with 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, organizational skills, and strong communication. Passion for pets is key.
