Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. This role combines hands-on animal interaction, customer education, sales, and store support in a dynamic retail setting. Ideal for animal lovers with retail experience seeking flexible, rewarding work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead training sessions over phone, in-person, or online, ensuring safe environments and positive outcomes.
• Actively promote and sell group/private classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate records, clean training areas, and respond to pet health emergencies.
• Collaborate with store team as training expert, recognize contributions, and assist other departments.
• Follow all policies, participate in recognition culture, and recommend services/merchandise.

Experience & Skills

Requires 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Must lift 50+ lbs, handle live animals in moderate-noise/wet environments, and work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays. Physical demands include standing, stooping, and depth perception.
