Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. This role combines hands-on animal interaction, sales, education, and store support in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead training sessions over phone, in-person, or online, ensuring pet parent satisfaction and outcomes.
• Actively promote and sell training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
• Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
• Serve as training expert, recognizing associates and fostering a culture of belonging.

Experience & Skills

Requires 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure. Must lift 50+ lbs, handle animals in moderate-noise/wet environments, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include standing, stooping, and depth perception.
