Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a dynamic retail environment, ensuring safe, fun experiences for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training sessions over phone, in-person, or online while managing pet parent expectations and outcomes.
- Actively promote and sell group/private classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, schedules, and a clean, safe training area.
- Serve as training expert for store associates, recognizing sales contributions.
- Handle emergencies like sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Requires 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and strong communication/organizational skills. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and exposure to pets/noise.
