Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers expert training services, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. Based in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, this role combines hands-on pet interaction with customer education, ensuring safe, positive experiences in a dynamic retail setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct training classes, managing pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online.
• Actively sell classes and educate on curriculum benefits; recommend merchandise.
• Maintain paperwork, schedules, and a clean, safe training environment.
• Handle sick/injured pets promptly and assist other departments as needed.
• Serve as training expert, recognizing associates and fostering a culture of belonging.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are key. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet environments.
