Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. Based in Sacramento, CA, you'll ensure safe, fun experiences for dogs and their owners while upholding our mission to enhance pet lives through education and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct training sessions over phone, in-person, or online, managing pet parent expectations and outcomes.
• Actively promote and sell group/private classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
• Handle emergencies like sick pets, recommend services/merchandise, and collaborate across departments.
• Serve as training expert, recognizing team sales efforts and fostering a culture of recognition.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years retail/customer service experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in pet-filled environments with flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Depth perception and composure under pressure are essential.
