Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer is the go-to expert for positive reinforcement training, engaging pet parents and their furry companions. You'll deliver our proven curriculum, sell classes, and ensure safe, fun experiences both in-store and online. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a fast-paced pet retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead training sessions, educate on curriculum benefits, and resolve pet parent concerns via phone, in-person, or online.
• Actively promote and sell training packages while recommending merchandise.
• Maintain clean, safe training areas and handle sick/injured pets promptly.
• Manage scheduling, paperwork, and serve as training subject matter expert for store associates.
• Collaborate across departments, follow policies, and foster a culture of belonging.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for shifts, and handling live animals in a moderate-noise environment with pet hair exposure. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
