Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. Based in Santa Cruz, CA, you'll engage customers in-store, online, or by phone, sell classes, and ensure safe, clean training environments while contributing to store success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training sessions following PetSmart curriculum, prioritizing pet parent satisfaction and outcomes.
- Actively promote and sell training programs across channels; educate on full curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe.
- Handle sick/injured pets promptly, recommend services/merchandise, and assist other departments.
- Serve as training expert for store associates, fostering a culture of belonging and recognition.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication. Thrive under pressure with organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet-filled environment.
