Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. This role combines hands-on animal interaction, customer education, sales, and store support in a dynamic retail environment. Ideal for animal lovers with retail experience seeking flexible, rewarding work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead training sessions via phone, in-person, or online, ensuring positive pet parent experiences and outcomes.
• Actively promote and sell training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
• Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments as needed.
• Serve as training expert, recognizing associates and fostering team sales success.

Experience & Skills

Requires 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure. Must lift 50+ lbs, stand extensively, and work evenings/weekends/holidays. Exposure to animals, noise, and wet environments common; reasonable accommodations available.
