Role Overview
As a Pet Trainer in our Sioux City, Iowa store, you'll engage pet parents and their pets to deliver positive training experiences aligned with PetSmart's vision. Accredited instructors like you actively promote and conduct classes using our proven curriculum, ensuring safety, education, and sales success in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; address concerns promptly.
- Sell training classes proactively and educate on full curriculum benefits.
- Maintain records, schedule sessions, and ensure clean, safe training spaces.
- Respond to pet health issues with urgency, including vet transport.
- Collaborate as training expert, recognize team contributions, and support other departments.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and handling live animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required.

- Actively sell training classes in-store, phone, and online while educating on benefits
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe
- Handle sick/injured pets with immediate action including vet transport if needed
- Collaborate with store team as pet training expert and assist other departments as required
