Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. Based in Springdale, Ohio, this role combines animal expertise, customer service, and retail energy to foster pet success and build lasting relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group and private training sessions, ensuring safe, fun environments for pets and people.
- Actively promote and sell training packages in-store, online, and via phone.
- Handle pet parent inquiries, concerns, and outcomes with empathy and expertise.
- Maintain accurate records, clean training areas, and collaborate with store teams.
- Respond to pet emergencies, recommend services, and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and handling live animals in a dynamic pet retail setting.
