Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training experiences using our proven curriculum. Based in Staten Island, NY, you'll engage pet parents, sell classes, ensure safety, and contribute to store success. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail setting with live animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead positive training sessions over phone, in-person, or online while addressing pet parent needs.
- Actively promote and sell training programs to drive enrollment.
- Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
- Handle emergencies like sick pets, recommend services, and assist other departments.
- Educate associates as the pet training expert and foster a culture of recognition.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and exposure to pets/noise. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
