Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives class enrollment. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle pets in wet/hairy areas. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, or online to sell and deliver training classes.
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and paperwork; schedule per company guidelines.
- Educate associates as training expert; recognize sales contributions.
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, assist other departments.
- Uphold Belonging culture, policies, and procedures.
Experience & Skills
- 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
- PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation.
- Computer proficiency, pressure handling, flexible scheduling.
