Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role ensures safe, fun experiences in-store while acting as the local expert on pet behavior and training benefits. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential in this dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead group and private training sessions, managing pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online.
• Actively promote and sell training packages, educating on curriculum value.
• Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
• Handle emergencies like sick pets, recommend services/merchandise, and support other departments.
• Foster team recognition and adherence to company policies.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years customer-facing retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, and excellent communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, and exposure to pets/noise. Depth perception and flexibility required.
