Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers expert training services, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This dynamic role combines animal care, education, and customer service in a fun retail environment, ensuring safe, positive experiences for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training classes, manage pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online, and resolve concerns promptly.
- Proactively sell classes, educate on benefits, and recommend merchandise/services.
- Maintain records, schedule sessions, ensure cleanliness/safety, and handle pet emergencies including vet transport.
- Train store associates as subject matter expert and recognize sales contributions.
- Flex between departments, uphold policies, and foster a culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure. Must lift 50+ lbs, handle animals in moderate-noise/wet environments, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include standing, stooping, and depth perception.
