Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, upholds company values, and drives pet parent engagement. Accredited instructors educate on curriculum benefits, sell classes across channels, and ensure safe, clean environments. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key in this dynamic retail-pet role.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, or online; resolve concerns and sell classes.
- Conduct classes per curriculum, maintaining safety and paperwork.
- Educate associates as training expert; schedule sessions and recognize contributions.
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
- Keep training areas clean; follow policies and foster belonging culture.
Experience & Skills
Require 1-2 years customer-focused retail, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, pet handling in moderate-noise, pet-hair environments.
