Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our comprehensive pet training programs. This role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a dynamic retail environment, ensuring safe, fun experiences for pets and owners alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group and private training sessions following PetSmart's accredited curriculum.
- Actively promote and sell training packages in-store, online, and via phone.
- Maintain impeccable training areas, handle paperwork, and ensure pet safety.
- Respond to pet parent inquiries, resolve concerns, and educate on training benefits.
- Collaborate with store team as pet training expert and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication skills. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working with live animals in a fast-paced store. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
