Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, this role combines education, sales, and hands-on animal interaction in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead group and private training sessions following PetSmart curriculum.
• Actively promote and sell training packages in-store, online, and by phone.
• Handle pet parent inquiries, concerns, and feedback professionally.
• Maintain accurate records, schedules, and a safe, clean training space.
• Recognize sick/injured pets and coordinate veterinary care as needed.
• Cross-train associates on training benefits and assist other departments.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for shifts, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet areas. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
