Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. This role combines hands-on animal interaction, customer education, sales, and store support in a dynamic retail setting. Ideal for animal lovers with retail experience seeking flexible, rewarding work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead training sessions over phone, in-person, or online while ensuring pet parent satisfaction and addressing concerns.
• Actively promote and sell group/private training classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate paperwork, schedules, and clean/safe training areas.
• Serve as training expert for store associates, recognizing sales contributions.
• Handle pet emergencies, recommend merchandise/services, and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Requires 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure are essential. Must lift 50+ lbs, handle live animals, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include standing, stooping, and exposure to pet hair/noise.
