Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This dynamic role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a fun retail environment. Ensure safe, clean spaces while upholding company values. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

Essential Physical Demands

Stand/walk extensively, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), handle animals, climb ladders, work in pet hair/wet areas with moderate-high noise. Depth perception essential; accommodations available.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pet training sessions, managing pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online.
• Actively sell classes and educate on curriculum benefits; recommend merchandise/services.
• Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, keep areas clean/safe; handle sick/injured pets.
• Train store associates as subject matter expert; assist other departments as needed.
• Follow policies, participate in recognition culture.

Experience & Skills

• 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
• PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation required.
• Strong communication, organization, composure under pressure.
• Computer proficiency; physical ability for pet handling/lifting.
