Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a dynamic retail pet environment, ensuring safe, fun experiences for dogs and their owners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead group and private training sessions following PetSmart standards.
• Actively promote and sell training packages in-store, online, and by phone.
• Handle pet parent inquiries, concerns, and feedback professionally.
• Maintain accurate records, schedules, and a clean training area.
• Collaborate with store team as pet training expert and assist other departments.
• Ensure pet safety, including emergency response for injured animals.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years retail/customer service experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working with live animals in a moderate-noise environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
