Role Overview
PetSmart’s Pet Trainer engages pet parents and pets to deliver exceptional training experiences aligned with our vision, mission, and values. You'll educate on training benefits, conduct classes per curriculum, and drive sales while ensuring safety and cleanliness in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online, resolving concerns and delivering outcomes.
- Sell training classes proactively and educate on full curriculum benefits.
- Maintain records, schedule sessions, and uphold safety/cleanliness standards.
- Respond to pet health issues, transport if needed, and cross-sell merchandise/services.
- Train associates as subject matter expert and support store-wide duties.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and strong communication/organizational skills. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and handling animals in a moderate-noise, pet-filled setting.

Responsibilities

- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe
- Handle sick/injured pets, transport to vet if needed, and recommend merchandise/services
- Educate associates as pet training expert and assist other departments as required
