Role Overview
As a Pet Trainer in Wilmington, North Carolina, you'll engage pet parents and pets, delivering positive training experiences aligned with PetSmart's vision. Actively promote and sell our curriculum-based classes while ensuring safety and excellence in every interaction. This role suits animal lovers with retail experience ready to educate, train, and build lasting customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online, addressing concerns promptly.
- Sell training classes proactively and educate on full curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe.
- Handle sick/injured pets immediately, including vet transport if needed.
- Train store associates as subject matter expert and recognize training sales efforts.
- Recommend merchandise/services and assist other departments as required.
Experience & Skills
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
- PetSmart Training Instructor Course accreditation.
- Computer proficiency, strong communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays; ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Physical Demands
Stand/walk extensively, handle pets/equipment, work in pet hair/wet environments with moderate-high noise. Depth perception and team lifting up to 100+ lbs required.
