Role Overview
As a Retail Operations Manager (Process Leader) in our La Jolla, California store, you'll share responsibility for driving operational excellence while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy. This full-time role involves merchandising, inventory management, pet care operations, associate leadership, financial outcomes, and maintaining a safe, organized store environment.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Recruit, interview, coach associates; facilitate onboarding, reviews, labor management, and succession planning. Delegate tasks, ensure training compliance, and celebrate engagement to build high-performing teams.
Store Experience & Operations
Oversee pet healthcare including feeding, cleaning habitats, and sick pet protocols. Manage inventory processes, planograms, BOPIS/SFS programs, merchandising decisions, vendor relations, and store standards for safety and cleanliness.
Expense Management
Analyze reports to hit sales/shrink targets, control labor/supplies, and leverage resources for business growth.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have retail management experience, strong leadership in coaching teams, expertise in inventory/merchandising, pet care knowledge, financial acumen for P&L, and problem-solving for operational improvements. Passion for pets and customer service is essential.
