Role Overview

The Retail Operations Manager (Process Leader) shares responsibility for driving operational excellence, upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy. This full-time role oversees merchandising, inventory, pet care, associate leadership, financial outcomes, and maintaining a safe, organized store environment. You'll lead by example, ensuring every pet parent leaves happy and every pet thrives.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

Recruit, interview, coach, and develop associates; prioritize tasks, manage labor, handle grievances, and foster engagement through recognition and communication.

Store Operations & Pet Care

Oversee pet health including feeding, cleaning habitats, and sick pet protocols; manage inventory accuracy, receiving, stocking, planograms, and BOPIS/SFS programs; maintain merchandising standards and vendor relationships.

Financial & Expense Management

Drive sales, control shrink, analyze trends, manage labor/supplies, and leverage resources to meet P&L targets while ensuring safety and compliance.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring retail management experience, strong leadership in team development, pet care knowledge, inventory expertise, financial acumen, and a passion for operational improvement. Skills in coaching, trend analysis, and creating safe environments are essential.
