Role Overview
The Retail Operations Manager (Process Leader) shares responsibility for driving store performance through merchandising, inventory, pet care, and team leadership. This full-time role ensures a safe, organized store while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values. You'll report to store leadership and collaborate to meet financial goals and deliver outstanding service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead people initiatives: Recruit, coach, mentor associates; manage labor, onboarding, and succession planning.
- Oversee pet care: Maintain habitats for birds, reptiles, fish, and small animals; ensure health and safety standards.
- Drive operations: Execute inventory processes, planograms, pricing, and online fulfillment programs.
- Optimize merchandising: Analyze trends, manage discretionary space, and maintain backroom/vendor standards.
- Ensure compliance: Uphold safety, cleanliness, P&Ps, and Code of Ethics; handle openings/closings and escalations.
- Manage expenses: Monitor P&L, sales targets, shrink, and identify growth opportunities.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have retail management experience, strong leadership abilities, pet care knowledge, and analytical skills for inventory and sales. Proficiency in coaching, communication, and process improvement is essential. Flexibility for varied shifts and a passion for pets set you apart.
