Role Overview
The Retail Operations Manager (Process Leader) shares responsibility for driving operational excellence, upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy. You'll manage merchandising, inventory, pet care operations, associate leadership, financial outcomes, and maintain a safe, organized store environment. This full-time role involves opening/closing duties and responding to pet parent needs.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Recruit, interview, coach associates; facilitate onboarding, reviews, and succession planning. Delegate tasks, ensure training compliance, address grievances, and celebrate engagement to build high-performing teams focused on pet safety.
Store Experience & Operations
Oversight of pet healthcare (feeding, cleaning habitats, sick pet protocols), inventory processes (receiving, stocking, counts), merchandising decisions, BOPIS/SFS programs, vendor relations, and store standards for cleanliness and safety.
Expense Management
Analyze trends to meet P&L goals, manage labor/supplies, identify growth opportunities, and leverage Home Office resources for optimal store performance.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have retail management experience, proven leadership in team development, strong operational knowledge in inventory and merchandising, passion for pet care, and analytical skills for P&L management. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities are essential in this dynamic retail setting.
