Role Overview
The Retail Operations Manager (Process Leader) shares responsibility for driving store performance through merchandising, inventory, pet care, associate leadership, and financial outcomes. This full-time role ensures a safe, organized store while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values. You'll open/close the store, handle escalations, and foster a culture of empowerment.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Recruit, interview, coach, and develop associates; manage labor, onboarding, reviews, and succession planning. Delegate tasks, ensure training compliance, and celebrate engagement to align teams with business goals.
Store Operations & Pet Care
Oversee pet health (feeding, cleaning, sick pet protocols), inventory processes (receiving, stocking, counts), merchandising (planograms, trends), and services like BOPIS/SFS. Maintain vendor relations, backroom standards, and safety/compliance.
Financial & Expense Management
Analyze reports to hit sales/shrink targets, control labor/supplies, and identify growth opportunities using Home Office resources.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have retail leadership experience, pet care knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a passion for animals. Proficiency in inventory systems, P&L analysis, team motivation, and customer service is essential. Must thrive in fast-paced environments and commit to continuous improvement.
