Role Overview

The Retail Operations Supervisor (Process Lead) shares responsibility for driving operational excellence, upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy. Key focus areas include merchandising, inventory management, pet care operations, store opening/closing, associate oversight, and maintaining a safe, organized environment. Act as leader on duty, guiding teams without direct reports but providing performance feedback.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

Support sales associates with training on product knowledge and presentation. Facilitate onboarding, mentoring, coaching, task delegation, and recognition to boost engagement. Address complaints, grievances, and lead when managers are absent.

Store Operations & Experience

Execute merchandise strategies for sales optimization, manage inventory audits, sales trend analysis, and cycle counts. Handle POS transactions, ensure policy compliance, and maintain pet care standards—cleaning, feeding, health checks, quarantine for new arrivals, and vet transport for sick pets. Support online order pickups for exceptional pet parent experiences.

Experience & Skills

Require 2+ years retail supervisory experience in customer-focused settings, full-time flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), computer proficiency, strong communication, composure under pressure, and organizational detail for visually appealing stores. Physical demands include working in a pet-friendly retail environment.
