Role Overview
The Retail Operations Supervisor (Process Lead) shares responsibility for driving operational excellence in our Horseheads, NY store. This full-time role focuses on merchandising, inventory management, pet care, associate leadership, and maintaining a safe, organized store while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Support sales associates with training on product knowledge, delegate tasks, lead when acting as leader on duty, provide feedback for performance reviews, and celebrate team achievements to boost engagement.
- Store Operations: Execute merchandise strategies, manage inventory audits and replenishment, operate POS systems, handle cash accurately, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
- Pet Care Excellence: Maintain pet health standards including cleaning, feeding, monitoring sick/injured pets, transporting to vets, and preparing new arrivals post-quarantine.
- Customer Experience: Support online order pickups, ensure positive pet parent interactions, and uphold brand promise through store standards.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in customer-focused settings. Must have full-time flexibility including evenings, weekends, and holidays; proficiency in computer applications; strong communication and organizational skills; ability to perform under pressure; and passion for pets. No direct reports, but guides associate development and acts as leader when needed. Physical demands include lifting, standing, and working in a pet-filled environment.
