Role Overview
The Retail Operations Supervisor (Process Lead) shares responsibility for driving operational excellence, upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy. This full-time role involves merchandising, inventory management, pet care, store operations, associate oversight, and maintaining a safe, organized environment. Act as leader on duty, ensuring brand promise delivery in a fast-paced pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Support sales associates with training on product knowledge and presentation. Facilitate onboarding, mentoring, coaching, task delegation, and performance feedback. Address complaints, recognize achievements, and lead when managers are absent.
Store Operations & Pet Care
Optimize sales through merchandise placement, seasonal displays, and promotions. Manage inventory audits, cycle counts, and sales trends. Handle POS, cash transactions, opening/closing procedures. Ensure pet health by cleaning, feeding, monitoring new arrivals, and transporting sick pets to vets. Support online order fulfillment for seamless pet parent experiences.
Experience & Skills
Require 2+ years retail supervisory experience, full-time flexibility, computer proficiency, strong communication, composure under pressure, and organizational detail-orientation. No direct reports, but guide associates and provide feedback. Physical demands include lifting, standing, and pet handling in a dynamic store environment.
