Role Overview

PetSmart's full-time Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct pet care. This entry-level role in our Arden, NC store involves customer engagement, merchandising, and ensuring pet safety in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions; greet customers and prepare online orders.
• Manage store-owned pet health: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), administer vet-directed meds, and transport sick pets.
• Maintain cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new inventory, handle price changes, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
• Sell merchandise, services, and live pets while ensuring a safe environment for associates, pets, and customers.
• Flexibly assist across store areas, follow policies, and participate in our culture of belonging.

Experience & Skills

No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments with moderate noise and occasional wet conditions.
