Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding customer experiences, cares for store pets, and maintains a clean, safe environment. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, sales opportunities, and flexibility across store operations in a fun, pet-filled atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide daily care for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and habitats including feeding, cleaning, and vet-directed medications.
- Execute merchandising tasks: facing/filling products, price changes, and sales floor recovery.
- Promote products, services, live pets, and events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety by monitoring pets, handling emergencies, and maintaining cleanliness standards.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina for lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders, and animal handling in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Depth perception and team lift capabilities (100+ lbs) needed.
