Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate in our Calgary, Alberta store, you'll be the friendly face for pet parents, delivering outstanding customer service while caring for our live pets. This entry-level role combines sales, pet care, and store operations to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming space. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key in this dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions, including seamless online order pickups.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Maintain merchandising standards by facing/filling products, staging new inventory, and supporting price changes/promotions.
- Promote events like adoption weekends, Treats enrollment, and charity drives while recommending products and services.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required, but pet enthusiasts thrive here. You'll need strong communication, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in a lively environment with animals, moderate noise, and occasional wet conditions. Vision for depth perception and team lifting for heavier items supported.
