Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain a welcoming store. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, customer service, and retail operations with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding pet parent service in-person, phone, register, and online order fulfillment.
- Care for store-owned pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), administer vet-directed meds, and respond to health issues.
- Execute merchandising: stock shelves, face products, handle price changes, and maintain cleanliness.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets while promoting events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers across all store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required. Ideal candidates have strong communication, composure under pressure, and love for animals. Physical demands include lifting 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), standing, climbing, and working in pet hair-filled, noisy environments with live animals.
