Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Chicago, IL store, you'll engage pet parents and care for pets, ensuring positive experiences while maintaining store standards. This entry-level role offers flexibility, hands-on pet interaction, and opportunities to advance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, face/fill products, stage merchandise, and support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend merchandise, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to pet health issues and transport to vet as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Vision for depth perception and tolerance for moderate noise/pet hair essential.
