Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct pet care. This entry-level role in our vibrant Downers Grove store involves customer engagement, merchandising, cleaning, and ensuring pet safety in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Manage pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed meds.
- Execute merchandising tasks: face/fill products, stage new items, handle price changes, and maintain cleanliness.
- Sell merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Prioritize safety: monitor pets, transport sick/injured ones to vets, and assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators with schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50lbs+, climb ladders, and handle animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled setting. Depth perception and team spirit essential.
