Role Overview

PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct pet care. This entry-level role in our Dubuque store involves customer engagement, sales, merchandising, and ensuring pet safety in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions including order pickups.
• Provide hands-on care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and vet-directed medications.
• Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock shelves, and recover merchandise to sales floor standards.
• Recommend products, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
• Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and assist across departments.

Experience & Skills

No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and handle animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled setting. Depth perception and reasonable accommodations available.
