Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding customer service, cares for store pets, and maintains a clean, safe environment. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, sales opportunities, and pathways to advancement in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions, including order pickups.
- Provide daily care for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and habitats—feeding, cleaning, and medicating as directed.
- Execute merchandising tasks: stock products, face shelves, recover floors, and implement price changes.
- Promote products, services, live pets, and events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets and transport to vet if needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Vision for depth perception and tolerance for moderate noise/pet hair essential.
