Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain an inviting store environment. This entry-level role offers flexibility, hands-on pet interaction, and pathways to career advancement in pet retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Drive sales by recommending products, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Execute merchandising: stock shelves, face products, handle price changes, and maintain cleanliness/safety standards.
- Respond to pet health issues, transport to vet if needed, and support all store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! You need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stand/walk extensively, and handle animals in a dynamic environment with moderate noise and pet hair.
