Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role in a dynamic retail environment involves customer engagement, merchandising, and pet safety in Gainesville, FL.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions including order pickups.
- Maintain pet health by feeding, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed meds.
- Execute store operations: cleanliness, pricing updates, product stocking, facing, and recovery to sales floor standards.
- Sell merchandise, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—training provided. Ideal candidates have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (standing, lifting 50+ lbs, handling animals in moderate noise/wet environments). Passion for pets is key.
