Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) delivers outstanding pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role offers flexibility across sales floor, services, and pet care in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Maintain pet health by feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed meds.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill products, stage new items, handle price changes, and recover sales floor.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
- Uphold cleanliness, follow policies, and assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Ideal candidates have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, ladder use, animal handling in moderate-noise, pet-hair environment). Depth perception and team-lift capability (100+ lbs) needed.
