Role Overview
The full-time Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) engages pet parents, upholds pet safety, maintains store standards, and supports sales. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet care, customer interaction, and merchandising in a dynamic retail environment with live animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online; greet, answer questions, prepare pickups.
- Provide direct pet care: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish; administer vet-directed meds; respond to sick pets.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill products, stage new items, handle price changes/promotions.
- Sell merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain cleanliness/safety; assist across store including services; follow policies.
Experience & Skills
Entry-level with no prior experience required. Need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50lbs (team lift 100+), stand/walk/climb, handle animals in moderate noise/wet/hairy environment. Depth perception essential.
