Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, maintains store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role in Houma offers flexibility, hands-on pet interaction, and opportunities to advance in a fun, pet-filled environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order fulfillment, and sales at register.
- Handle pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed medications.
- Ensure store cleanliness, safety, and visual standards by facing products, recovering stock, staging merchandise, and supporting promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Respond to pet health issues, transport to vet if needed, and assist across store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive in fast-paced settings, handle pressure calmly, and are available evenings, weekends, holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, ladder use, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet areas. Reasonable accommodations available.
