Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Indianapolis, IN, you'll engage pet parents and their pets, deliver outstanding customer experiences, and maintain store standards. This entry-level role involves pet care, sales, merchandising, and ensuring a safe, clean environment for associates, pets, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions; prepare and fulfill online orders.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), administer vet-directed medications, and respond to sick/injured pets.
- Execute merchandising tasks: face/fill/recover products, stage new items, support price changes and promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety standards, and assist across store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, ladder use, animal handling in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environments. Reasonable accommodations available.
