Role Overview
The Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) is the heart of our store, delivering exceptional pet parent experiences while ensuring pet safety and store excellence. This full-time role involves customer engagement, pet care, merchandising, and operational support in a dynamic retail environment with live animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order fulfillment, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), administer vet-directed meds, and respond to health issues.
- Maintain pristine store standards: face/fill products, stage merchandise, execute price changes, and support events like adoptions.
- Sell products, services, and live pets while promoting loyalty programs and charity initiatives.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Entry-level friendly with no prior experience required. Ideal candidates have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing, animal handling). Passion for pets is key.
Physical Demands & Environment
Expect moderate noise, pet hair, wet areas, mechanical parts, and live animal exposure. Must stand/walk extensively, lift heavy items, and have depth perception.
