Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Kensington, Maryland, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and drive sales while upholding PetSmart's vision. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet care, customer interaction, and store operations in a pet-loving community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, stock shelves, face products, and support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend merchandise, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to pet health issues immediately.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50lbs+, stand/walk extensively, handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments). Depth perception and teamwork essential.
