Role Overview

PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct pet care. This entry-level role in Mt Pleasant, SC, involves customer engagement, merchandising, cleaning, and ensuring pet safety in a dynamic retail environment with live animals.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions; greet customers and prepare online orders.
• Manage pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed medications.
• Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock shelves, face products, and recover sales floor.
• Sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
• Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.

Experience & Skills

No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-heavy environments. Vision for depth perception and tolerance for moderate noise/wet conditions essential.
